William White was born in 1941 in Reading, Berkshire, and, like many children of his generation, grew up glued to the radio. He loved classics such as The Navy Lark, The Archers, Take It From Here, Educating Archie, and, of course, the legendary Goon Show.
It wasn’t until moving to Spain, however, that his talent for writing truly blossomed. Joining a couple of local writing groups sparked a creative streak that soon produced a wonderfully eccentric tale called The Wacky Races in Villaricos which was serialised in a local newspaper. Packed with colourful characters like Thackroyd Wilberknacle, Leone Spewm, and Klaus Von Welderbitz, it delighted readers with its quirky humour.
William went on to write a zany weekly column chronicling the antics of the Los Gallardos Leisure Walking Football group and was a source of endless comic material.
Then came a bold leap: his first murder mystery play, The Speakeasy Murder. Performed in bars and theatres across Mojácar, Vera, and Bédar in the south of Spain, it played to full houses and earned critical acclaim. This was followed by two more murder mysteries, and, rumour has it, yet another mystery and even a full-length play are waiting in the wings.
